583. Anthony Trollope - Barchester Towers

I have never read this before and perhaps because I am not in a very receptive phase didn’t enjoy it, although struggled to understand this as Trollope is a good writer. I just found it hard to get into. Ignorance of the church of England hierarchy did not help.
Once you overcome these obstacles, it is quite a conventional 19th century novel with a woman courted by 3 men, one the odious Slope, one the frivolous roué Stanhope and the dull but safe Arabin who of course she eventually marries. Merits a re-read I am sure.
